Kajol launches Bollywood’s Top 20

Kajol launches Bollywood’s Top 20
In India, Bollywood rules the hearts and minds of people. For the cinema buffs,  tinsel-town superstars are no less than Gods for the crazed out fans.
The capital got a taste of Bollywood glam when Kajol descended on the city to launch a book on iconic actors of the Indian Cinema – Bollywood’s Top 20: Superstars of Indian Cinema.
A book for B-town aficionados, Bollywood’s Top 20 Superstars of Indian Cinema(Penguin), is a collection of essays edited by Bhaichand Patel. It charts the cinematic and personal journey of tHindi film industry’s iconic names across different eras including Dev Anand, KL Saigal, Kareena Kapoor and Madhubala.
The book features an essay on Kajol by Niranjan Iyengar. It brings alive the actress’ personal and professional life in an intimate way.
Looking radiant in a green floor-length dress, Kajol was modest about her inclusion in the short-list of top 20 superstars, “I am sure there would be people who would disagree with what has been written about me. But I think Bhaichand must have been little biased, since he is my friend.”
Bhaichand Patel, a family friend of the actress, thanked her for launching the book, “The first film I saw of Kajol was Baazigar opposite Shahrukh Khan, since then she has been one of the greatest actresses and there’s no question of her not being in the top 20.”
The book cover, created by Vijay Kumar, an artist in old Delhi, is reminiscent of old Bollywood poster style. It showcases Kareena Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan and a few other actors in colourful strokes.
